Dr. Maria Mora

Dr. Maria A. Mora is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Maxillofacial Medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, and completed her specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology along with a Master of Science degree at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry. Dr. Mora is a Diplomate of the American Certifying Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

With nearly two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Mora has maintained an active private practice since 2006 while dedicating her career to advancing dental education. She is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker, having delivered lectures for organizations such as the American Dental Association, the Imaging Sciences Institute, and BeamReaders. She previously served as Chair of Continuing Education for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, where she played a key role in advancing continuing education initiatives within the specialty.

Dr. Mora’s areas of expertise include cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), temporomandibular joint imaging, orthodontic applications of imaging, and airway assessment. She is particularly known for her innovative, evidence-based teaching approach, integrating technology and active learning strategies to enhance diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between imaging interpretation and comprehensive patient care
