Dr. Steffy received his D.D.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He practiced General Dentistry in the US Navy for 2 years before being accepted to residency. He then went to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, earning a certificate in Oral and Maxillary Radiology.
Dr. Steffy currently works for the US Navy in Bremerton, WA and with BeamReaders as a full time Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist.
He is a member of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology.
My passion for oral and maxillofacial radiology stems from the unique intersection of diagnostic precision, patient care, and the ever-evolving role of technology in dentistry. At its core, this specialty aligns closely with how I naturally think—analytical, detail-oriented, and driven to solve problems that are not always immediately visible.
Long before my career in dentistry, I developed a deep appreciation for diagnostics through working as an tank mechanic in the Marines. I was drawn to the challenge of identifying issues that were not obvious— trouble-shooting engine performance, interpreting symptoms, and systematically narrowing down the cause of a problem. That experience shaped the way I approach complex situations: with patience, curiosity, and a commitment to getting it right. Oral and maxillofacial radiology mirrors that same process. Each image tells a story, and I find great satisfaction in piecing together clinical and radiographic information to arrive at an accurate diagnosis that will guide patient care.
Additionally, I appreciate the collaborative nature of oral and maxillofacial radiology. Working alongside general dentists and specialists, reflects the team-oriented environment I experienced throughout my Navy career. It underscores the importance of communication, shared expertise, and mutual trust.
Ultimately, I enjoy being an oral and maxillofacial radiologist because it brings together my lifelong interest in diagnostics, my commitment to service, and my passion for improving patient outcomes.
