Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, ACBOMR Diplomate
Dr. Akrivoula Soundia obtained her DDS from her hometown dental school in Athens, Greece. She continued her studies at UCLA where she earned a residency certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and a PhD in Oral Biology. She is a diplomate of the American Certifying Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. During her graduate studies, Dr. Soundia was awarded the Howard R. Raper and the Arthur H. Wuehrmann prizes from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She also received first place in the 2019 American Association for Dental Research Hatton competition.
Dr. Soundia’s research focuses on Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws (MRONJ). She has co-authored and published several manuscripts on MRONJ pathophysiology and its potential treatment. Dr. Soundia has served as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals.
Dr. Soundia enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
