When I retired from the university I didn’t want to turn off my brain. I feel lucky to be in a position where I can use my knowledge to help clinicians care for their patients.

Dr. Sharon Brooks

Dr. Sharon Brooks earned her DDS from the University of Michigan in 1973, along with MS degrees in Oral Diagnosis and Radiology (1976) and Radiological Health (1984). Until recently she has been Professor and Head of the Radiology Section at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. She officially retired from the University on September 1, 2010 and has assumed her new rank of Professor Emerita. 

Dr. Brooks is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and served 5 years as a director of the Board, completing her term as President of the Board in 2008. She also is a Past-President of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and was the Editor of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, the official journal of the International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology for eight years. She is a frequent author and speaker on CBCT and other radiology topics around the world. 

Dr. Brooks has been working with CBCT since 2004, when she had the honor of using the first i-CAT, the beta test model. She joined BeamReaders in 2010.
