Dr. Shikha Rathi

Dr. Shikha Rathi earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from D.Y. Patil University in Mumbai, India, in 2004, followed by a one-year General Dentistry Internship at the same institution. She later completed a three-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she received both a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and a Master of Science degree in 2011. In 2014, Dr. Rathi relocated to California to practice alongside Dr. David Hatcher at DDI Imaging Center.

Dr. Rathi has been a Diplomate of the American CertifyingBoard of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR) since 2011 and currently maintains a private practice in Roseville, California. Over her 15+ years with BeamReaders, she has played an integral role in shaping the organization’s collaborative culture and mentoring emerging radiologists. She previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco.

An active contributor to the field, Dr. Rathi has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters, and national and international continuing education lectures. She is co-author of Specialty Imaging: Dental Implants, a textbook focused on bridging the gap between implantology and radiology. In addition, she serves as a recognized reviewer for Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology (OOOO).

Dr. Rathi is deeply passionate about Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and believes that excellence lies in attention to detail. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the outdoors.

Abstract: The intent of this article is to identify clinical presentations that may benefit from an investigation with a cone beam computed tomography scan. These indications include dolichofacial growth pattern, mandibular asymmetry, acquired change in bite, impactions, craniofacial malformations, TMD and patients with suspected sleep disorders.
