Dr. Phillip Wong
Dr. Phillip Wong is an oral and maxillofacial radiologist specializing in advanced CBCT interpretation for complex cases. He holds a DMD from Roseman University, completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Florida, and earned degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (UC Davis) and Biomedical Sciences (Midwestern University).
Dr. Wong previously served as Director of the Cone Beam Imaging Facility and Radiation Safety Officer at Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he led initiatives that reduced patient radiation exposure by over 90% while maintaining diagnostic quality. His commitment to clinical education earned him the Indiana University Trustees' Teaching Award in 2021 for teaching excellence and innovative learning strategies. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Maxillofacial Medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.
In addition to his work with Beamreaders, Dr. Wong consults with Academic Health Associates on curriculum design, imaging protocols, and clinical quality improvement for dental organizations nationwide. He is an active member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR), American Dental Education Association (ADEA), and International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology (IADMFR).
Dr. Wong shares diagnostic insights and CBCT education on Instagram at @dentalxrayguy, where he helps general dentists improve their understanding of 3D imaging for implant planning, endodontics, pathology identification, and treatment decision-making.
Based in South Florida, Dr. Wong is dedicated to helping clinicians deliver safer, more accurate, and evidence-based patient care through expert radiologic interpretation. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife and two young children, golfing, running marathons, and exploring new destinations.
